X Games Champion, World Champion, U.S. Open Champion, ESPY Awards: Best Female Action Sports Athlete of the Year…should we continue? We could, because when it comes to wakeboarding, there are very few things Red Bull pro athlete Dallas Friday hasn’t conquered. How about the winningest female wakeboarder in history? Yeah, that would be Dallas Friday too. But what about when Dallas isn’t out competing on her own signature O’Brien wakeboard? It turns out her board isn’t the only customized ride she has. With that, another MyRide With.

MyRide.com Celebrity Car Interview: Tao Berman, World’s Greatest Kayaker

8 07 2008

There is human, and then there is Red Bull athlete Tao Berman. USA Today called him the “world’s foremost extreme kayaker.” Sports Illustrated called him “the best-known kayaker on the planet.” And when we called him to do a MyRide With, some how in between paddling off 300-foot waterfalls, dropping into rivers out of helicopters, and running for political office, Tao found time to call back. Tao is a world record holder for the tallest, fastest, and longest waterfall descents in a kayak. He’s been a top competitor in freestyle and extreme kayak racing and has more than 50 first descents to his name, many of which haven’t been attempted since. What’s a first descent? As we understand it, the term means you were the first person with enough kahunas to paddle off a particular waterfall. At least in bull riding you have a rodeo clown to save your ass. Throw on your helmet as we descend into another MyRide With. Continue…

MyRide.com Celebrity Car Interview: Krysten Ritter, Actress

8 07 2008

One day we woke up and actress Krysten Ritter had dropped a MyRide With off in our mailbox, which is awesome because hot girls rarely ever email us. Actually, her publicist emailed us but roll with it, okay?
Krysten got her start modeling after an agency scouted her in a mall at the age of 15. After spending a handful of years traveling around the world doing the model thing (like we know what that means), Krysten took up acting and has been stepping up her game ever since. She had reoccurring roles on the television shows Gilmore Girls and ‘Til Death, and Krysten is currently on screen in What Happens in Vegas… opposite Ashton Kutcher. Next up, among other projects, Krysten has the starring role in DreamWorks SKG’s now-filming She’s Out of My League (we told you she’s doing big things). And if starting your day or ending your night with a little indie music is your jam, check out her band, ex vivian, on MySpace. And with that, lap belts on for another MyRide With. Continue…

At the center of the solar system…Celine Dion

The way people are gravitating towards this Mercedes-Benz S-Class, you’d think the sunroof’s purpose was to let the sun out of the car. I knew Celine Dion was popular; hell, after hockey, beer, and humorous fodder, she is Canada’s biggest export. But this is crazy.

The S-Class is a rolling technological masterpiece which, according to Mercedes-Benz, includes a “sun sensor [that] helps compensate for the effects of direct sunlight on the occupants.” Not sure if it works in reverse for nearby pedestrians.

Victoria Beckham’s Porsche: This is never a good sign.

Victoria Beckham’s Porsche left her driveway on the automotive equivalent of an ambulance this past Friday. Considering she bought it in March, that means it failed quicker than a Spice Girl reunion tour. Forgive my dour mood, it’s Montuesday (the Tuesday following a Monday holiday).

The other day I noted that, “when it comes to new open-air trucks there is really only one way to head to the beach and that’s in a Jeep Wrangler.” David Beckham knows what’s up and just bought one himself. He gave it the Beckham treatment (blacking out everything, something he does to most all of his cars) and has been seen rolling through SoCal in it over the past couple days. For someone raised in Britain he has always shown a strange affinity for American trucks (Ford F-150, Lincoln Navigator, Cadillac Escalade, and Hummer H2 to name a few).

Celebrity Car Parade Spotlight: Convertibles

Celebrity Convertibles

Convertibles excel at two things over their hardtop counterparts: maximizing enjoyment of the good weather summer brings, and allowing occupants to show off. Since a good deal of celebrities live in Southern California and enjoy sunny weather year round, I’ve concentrated this gallery on which celebrity convertibles are (or aren’t) nailing the showing off part, or as I like to say…continue
